Proofreading
Never trust a word processor's spelling and grammar checker! Everyone is guilty of typos, and authors are so used to reading their own work that it's easy to skip past a misused word or a forgotten punctuation mark. Let a trained eye sift through your manuscript to hunt down these easily missed items.
Proofreading services include fixing errors with
- Spelling
- Punctuation
- Misused words (e.g., their vs. there vs. they're)
Manuscripts in the proofreading stage should have already been through developmental and line-level editing by a professional editor. If your work has not been in the hands of an editor, it is highly recommended you do so.
I follow the Chicago Manual of Style unless a publisher's style guide is provided to me by the author. All edits are made in Microsoft Word using Track Changes.
